December TBR!

In classic Steph fashion, I did not stick to last months TBR and ended up not reading much at all due to a reading slump I couldn’t seem to get out of.

I’ve decided to start blogging with little reviews for each book I finish and actually start working through my never ending TBR to make space for more books – this is the official commencement of my book buying ban! I’ll stick with my monthly Fairyloot, but until the end of December I will not be buying any more books. Blehhh.

Firstly, I’d like to finish reading Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. I meant to finish this in November as I was joining in with a readalong but fell behind due to my reading slump so I’m around 90 pages in and I need to finish it! I’m loving it so far though, and love this series so much! I’m finishing this reread before starting Kingdom of Ash.

Next, I’d love to read Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce. I received this book in November’s Illumicrate and it looks fabulous! It’s only 226 pages so I think I could get through it in a day if I’m in the right mood. It’s the first book of the Immortals Quartet and I believe it was published in 2005, but the Illumicrate Edition is exclusive and updated. It’ll be an interesting read and I think it’ll help my reading slump!

As well as those, I’d love to read The Empress of all Seasons by Emiko Jean. I’ve wanted to read this for so long and I finally got a gorgeous copy from November’s Illumicrate with black sprayed edges! I’m obsessed with Asian themed books at the moment so this will be perfect. I’ve anticipated this read for so long and I hope it’s everything I expect it to be.

I had to include a Christmas read in this months TBR, so I ordered a copy of Christmas in the Snow by Nora Roberts. This is my first Nora Roberts book and I had to give one of her books a try after the Tomi drama. I’m super excited for a festive read, as I missed out on a Halloween read in October which I’m super bummed about.

Sawkill Girls by Claire LeGrand is next on my list. I found an ARC copy in my local charity shop and snagged it for £1! If I enjoy it I’ll be buying the hardcover copy which is stunning. This is another book I’ve been anticipating for so long and I’m so glad I finally have it in my hands, albeit for over a month and it’s still untouched, oops.

I’m also doing this months Fairyloot readalong of Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I love these readalongs because they’re easy to keep up with and always make me want to read more because 5 chapters or so is never enough! I’ve heard such good things about this book already and I haven’t read anything by Brandon Sanderson yet so I’m super excited!

Finally, I’m hoping to read Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I haven’t read this series yet but I’m so excited to because everyone seems to adore it! I purchased the collectors edition when it came out so I’ll be reading that, and then purchasing the rest of the series if I enjoy it. I’m really hoping I love it as much as everyone else seems to!

I’ll be writing reviews for each book here, and I apologise in advance if I go way off track with my TBR but I’m going to try my best! The book buying ban should help, so here’s to trying to stick to a TBR list for the first time ever – woo! Perhaps book blogging will be somewhat of a good influence on me after all…
